Before we head off for a little festive break to consume our weight in Lebkuchen and Glühwein, we wanted to stop by with news of our new pricing model to make sure our fonts are fair for all. Also in this little roundup, there’s a match made in Fontwerk heaven for one of our latest use cases and we celebrate some good news for fans of variable fonts! Thank you to everyone who has supported us this year, it truly means the world. |

 | | Based on the World Bank’s purchasing power parity data, we are introducing regional pricing – same products, locally different prices | |
|
| | Regional Pricing: fair for everyoneWe pride ourselves in expanding our library to include high-quality fonts that speak many languages, and are committed to reaching regions that have not previously had access to a comparable selection of professional fonts. Yet for many international customers, our European-based pricing remains unaffordable. Even €70 for a single style can exceed the whole budget in some parts of the world. So with the relaunch of our website last year, we started exploring how we could offer a fairer model. Using the World Bank’s purchasing power parity data, which shows differences in the cost of living and the relationship between exchange rates and price levels between different countries, we developed a concept for regional pricing. Initially, we tested it for African countries during summer and then later expanded it to Asia. We’re delighted to say that we are now rolling out the program worldwide! We hope that this model will better reflect the realities of life for all of our customers. If you live in one of the countries benefiting from this initiative, we’d love to hear if we have succeeded in doing so or what measures might be more appropriate. | |

| | Pangea perfectly paired with NikolaiEverso is a Hamburg-based music agency that specializes in tailor-made live performances for events of all kinds. For their tenth anniversary, they celebrated in style by commissioning the Austrian creative agency Northlight to conduct a full and comprehensive rebrand. Northlight took Everso’s website and printed materials to another level. Combining clarity with character, they used Pangea Regular and Nikolai Light Italic across the brand and created a visual identity full of authenticity and personality. Their work immediately won the silver medal at the European Design Awards 2024. As Lead Designer from Northlight, Felix Gärtner said, “Pangea stands for timelessness and readability, while Nikolai gives a poetic expression with its fine details and nuances.” We particularly love their animated logo that pairs our two typefaces perfectly. | |
