Last week was Berlinale week, the International Film Festival that arrives once a year in our hometown, Berlin. This year, alongside mega stars such as Tilda Swinton, Robert Pattinson and Timothée Chalamet, our very own Pangea made its debut on the film scene.
Claudia Schramke, who is in charge of the art direction of the festival, chose Christoph Koeberlin’s popular typeface, Pangea, for the poster and materials that feature throughout the festival.
One of the key visuals for this year is an animated version of the poster which is inspired by the almost forgotten film leader countdowns, which were used to help thread a film reel. As Claudia says, “I wanted to create something lively that celebrates 75 years of film tradition and impressively interprets the theme of time. The beating heart of the Berlinale, so to speak,” and for that she looked to Pangea as “because it’s from Christoph” she knew “it had to be good.”
Pangea Condensed – which was only released last summer – features on both the poster and the lead visual and we absolutely love how it looks!

It’s that time of the year again, when our friends at Slanted Publishers release their beautiful Yearbook of Type. Featuring the great and the good from the world of fonts, the book is a veritable treasure trove of typography and a must-buy for anyone in need of some type-spiration.
The latest iteration of this beautiful guide is a whopping 608 (!) pages long and we are over the moon that our very own McQueen and Push typefaces have been included in this typographic bible. This year’s theme is Plants and each typeface is now displayed across three pages, giving breathing room and space for each design to be shown in its full glory, providing examples of the designs, an insight into the foundry, the character set and features, as well as giving a real flavor for the character of each font.
Also new this year is the addition of the accompanying microsite which showcases all the featured fonts and allows you to purchase them easily.

A central aspect of KVSW’s rebranding is the typography, in which the Pangea font family plays an essential role. |
As one of the largest municipal healthcare providers in southern Germany, Klinikverbund Südwest (KVSW) unites six hospitals across different locations. The organization recently underwent a comprehensive rebrand in order to establish a uniform visual design across the brand. One of the key aspects was the typography and the Pangea Collection plays an essential role.
Pangea lends the new identity a clear, geometric yet soft form touch that reflects the modern values of the clinic group. It is used both in the logo (Pangea) and as the primary font and is also used in the orientation system of the new administration building as well as all forms of communication (Pangea Text). Another key visual that harnesses the power of Pangea is a leitmotiv of the letters KVSW, which are used across their materials.
